Product Manager – Software Safety

A technology company in the defense sector is looking for a Product Manager / System Engineer for a meaningful role in the field of Software Safety.

The role includes defining system and software safety requirements, analyzing risks and failure scenarios, supporting development processes, and ensuring the safe operation of complex, mission-critical software systems.

This position combines system-level and technological work, close collaboration with software, algorithms, QA/V&V, product, and customer-facing teams, and ownership of processes designed to ensure that the system operates reliably, safely, and predictably — including under edge cases, failures, and changing operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Product / System Engineering processes in the field of Software Safety.
• Gather, analyze, and define system requirements and software safety requirements.
• Perform risk analysis, identify failure scenarios, and define mitigation mechanisms.
• Write requirements documents, technical specifications, safety requirements, and system specifications.
• Work closely with software, algorithms, QA/V&V, hardware, and system teams.
• Support end-to-end development processes, from requirements definition through implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, design, implementation, and verification.
• Define test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and verification processes.
• Work with customers, users, and regulatory or defense stakeholders as needed.
• Support system-level decision-making related to safety, reliability, and behavior under edge cases.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technological field – required.
• Experience as a Technical Product Manager, System Engineer, or Product Manager working on complex software systems – required.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, development processes, and the software product lifecycle.
• Experience writing system requirements, technical specifications, and system documentation – required.
• Ability to work closely with software, QA, algorithms, hardware, and system teams.
• Strong analytical skills, system-level thinking, and attention to detail.
• High-level English, including reading and writing technical documentation.

Significant Advantage

• Experience in Software Safety / Functional Safety / Safety-Critical Systems.
• Experience with defense, aerospace, autonomous, medical, embedded, or real-time systems.
• Familiarity with safety standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC 62304, or relevant defense standards.
• Experience with Hazard Analysis, FMEA, FTA, Risk Assessment, or Safety Case documentation.
• Background in software development, embedded systems, or real-time systems.
• Experience working with defense customers or regulatory stakeholders.
