Full Stack Tech Lead - Backend Oriented

Ontopo is a restaurant-tech company developing B2B and B2C products for restaurants and diners.

Our platforms support approximately 1,500 restaurants and serve around 2 million users every month. Following strong growth in Israel, Ontopo is expanding its products and operations into international markets.

The Product and Opportunity:

We are building Ontopo’s next-generation core platform, designed to bring together our data infrastructure, internal operational tools, restaurant-facing products, and customer applications into one central ecosystem.

We are looking for a Full Stack Tech Lead with a strong Backend orientation (node.js), to lead the platform’s technological direction and work closely with our CTO.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining architecture, product thinking, and end-to-end ownership. You will turn business needs into practical technical solutions, guide an international development team, and help us move quickly without compromising the stability of products used by millions of users.

What You Will Do:

• Lead the architecture and development of Ontopo’s new core platform.
• Translate product and business requirements into technical solutions and development plans.
• Guide Backend and Frontend developers across an international team.
• Make key decisions regarding architecture, infrastructure, databases, performance, and production readiness.
• Take ownership of features from initial definition through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.
• Integrate AI tools, agents, and automated workflows into the development process.
• Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure it meets technical and product requirements.

Must-Have Requirements:

• 5+ years of Backend development experience with Node.js.
• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer, or senior engineer with significant technical ownership.
• Experience with Microservices, Distributed Systems, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with SQL, MongoDB, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong product mindset and practical experience using AI-assisted development tools or automated development workflows.

Frontend Environment:

The current Frontend stack is primarily based on Vue.js, with a possible future transition toward React.

Deep Frontend specialization is not required, but a solid understanding of web architecture and Backend-Frontend integration is essential.

Work Model:

• Full-time position.
• Based at Ontopo’s offices in Ramat Gan.
• Primarily office-based, with limited flexibility to work from home when needed.
