HPC & Linux Systems Engineer

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is seeking an experienced HPC & Linux Systems Engineer to support and advance the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Systems' high-performance computing infrastructure, cloud services, and research computing environments.

This role combines HPC administration, Linux systems engineering, DevOps practices, AI infrastructure, and cutting-edge research technologies in a highly innovative academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters and cloud-based services supporting research and teaching activities.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Linux-based computing environments and open-source infrastructure.
• Administer and support HPC technologies including Slurm, Kubernetes, containers, and distributed computing environments.
• Evaluate, implement, and integrate advanced technologies in AI, scientific computing, and HPC.
• Design and implement DevOps processes, automation tools, and user environments.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize system, cluster, and GPU performance.
• Develop administrative tools and automation scripts using Python and Bash.
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and infrastructure.
• Provide technical support and training to faculty members, researchers, and students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience with Linux administration and Docker containers.
• Hands-on experience with HPC environments, including Slurm and Kubernetes.
• Experience with parallel computing libraries and workload scheduling systems.
• Experience analyzing system, cluster, and GPU performance.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience with automation and infrastructure management tools such as Ansible, Foreman, Shell scripting, or similar.
• Advantage: experience with GitHub and large-scale automation environments.
