Job Brief

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical student to join our Data team in a part-time Data QA role. The position focuses on validating and monitoring data across our production data ecosystem, including dashboards, ETL pipelines, reporting layers, and analytical models. The role includes both ongoing monitoring activities and hands-on QA during development cycles, infrastructure changes, and dashboard updates.

You will work closely with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Product teams, and business stakeholders to help ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of business-critical data.

Responsibilities and Authorities

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing data quality monitoring across dashboards, pipelines, and reporting systems
• Investigate unexpected metric changes, anomalies, and data discrepancies.
• Validate new ETL/pipeline developments before production deployment.
• Execute sanity testing following logic or infrastructure changes.
• Compare and reconcile data across source systems, BigQuery tables, dashboards, APIs, and files.
• Validate KPI calculations, aggregations, filters, and business logic implementations.
• Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of reporting and pipeline issues.
• Help define QA methodologies, validation procedures, and monitoring frameworks.
• Document findings and communicate issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Assist in improving automated monitoring and alerting processes.

Authorities

• Escalate data quality issues, inconsistencies, and risks identified during validation activities.
• Request additional validation, investigation, or supporting evidence when data accuracy cannot be confirmed.
• Collaborate directly with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts, and business stakeholders to resolve data-related issues.
• Access relevant data environments, dashboards, and monitoring tools required for validation activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Must Have

• B.Sc. student in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
• At least one year remaining until graduation.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Basic to intermediate SQL skills.
• Ability to work independently and investigate complex issues methodically.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Good English proficiency.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with SQL-based analytical environments such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar.
• Familiarity with BI/reporting platforms such as Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar.
• Basic understanding of ETL/data pipeline concepts.
• Experience validating datasets, reports, or KPI calculations.
• Familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets for reconciliation and validation work.
• Basic Python knowledge is an advantage.
• Understanding of joins, aggregations, filtering logic, and data consistency checks.
