Field Applications Engineer (RF Systems)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Field Applications Engineer (RF Systems) to join our team and support advanced RF communication solutions throughout the entire customer lifecycle.
This is a highly customer-facing, hands-on engineering role that combines technical expertise, field execution, and customer engagement. The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical interface between customers and internal teams, supporting activities from pre-sales evaluations and field demonstrations through system deployment, integration, acceptance testing, and ongoing operational support.
The role requires frequent interaction with customers, business development, product management, and R&D teams, as well as participation in field trials, demonstrations, exhibitions, and international engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement
- Serve as the primary technical focal point during customer engagements and business development activities.
- Work closely with customers to understand operational requirements, technical challenges, and mission objectives.
- Define, present, and demonstrate technical solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Support proposal preparation, technical responses, system architecture discussions, and solution presentations.
- Plan and execute product demonstrations, proof-of-concept (POC) activities, and technical workshops.
- Participate in customer meetings, industry exhibitions, conferences, and marketing events in Israel and internationally.
- Provide technical input for competitive analysis and strategic business opportunities.
Field Trials, Deployment & Customer Support
- Lead and execute field trials, customer evaluations, demonstrations, and acceptance activities.
- Support system deployment, integration, commissioning, and operational rollout at customer sites.
- Perform on-site and remote technical support for customers and partners.
- Troubleshoot complex system-level issues involving RF communications, networking, software, and hardware components.
- Deliver customer training, technical briefings, and knowledge-transfer sessions.
- Drive issue resolution in collaboration with R&D, Product Management, and Operations teams.
- Build strong customer relationships and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical Responsibilities
- Configure, integrate, and validate advanced RF communication systems in laboratory and field environments.
- Perform system-level analysis, performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations.
- Utilize RF test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, and related diagnostic tools.
- Analyze and troubleshoot networking issues, including TCP/IP, UDP, routing, switching, and data transport performance.
- Support system verification under operational conditions, including challenging RF environments.
- Capture customer feedback and field experience to support continuous product improvement and future developments.
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Field Applications Engineering, System Engineering, Technical Support, Integration Engineering, Pre-Sales Engineering, or similar customer-facing technical roles.
- Hands-on experience with RF communication systems and wireless technologies.
- Experience conducting system integration, field trials, demonstrations, or customer acceptance testing.
- Strong understanding of RF, communication systems, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience using RF test equipment, including Spectrum Analyzers and Network Analyzers.
- Solid understanding of IP networking, including TCP/IP, UDP, routing, and switching.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and customer interaction skills.
- Ability to work independently in customer-facing and field environments.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Advantages
- Experience with tactical, military, defense, or mission-critical communication systems.
- Familiarity with communication protocols, data links, and networked communication architectures.
- Military background in communications, RF systems, electronic warfare, UAV systems, or related technical fields.
- Experience supporting international customers and channel partners.
- Experience with Linux-based systems and basic scripting (Python, Bash, etc.).
- Additional languages.
- Active security clearance.
