About the Role

The Missiles Division within the Missiles & Space Group is seeking a Head of Avionics Systems Engineering Department to lead the systems engineering activities for advanced weapon systems and missile programs.

This is a leadership position combining technical excellence, systems engineering expertise, and team management. The role involves overseeing the development of complex avionics systems, defining system architectures and performance requirements, and guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Systems Engineers specializing in avionics systems.
• Analyze customer requirements and operational environment constraints to define system solutions.
• Maintain broad technological understanding of avionics subsystems, including navigation systems, fuzes, payloads, and related technologies.
• Define performance requirements and capabilities for avionics systems integrated into weapon platforms.
• Lead the design and approval of system architecture and overall system concepts.
• Define and oversee cybersecurity solutions and mitigations.
• Select and evaluate hardware platforms supporting advanced AI algorithms, signal processing, and image processing applications.
• Define verification, validation, and test strategies while ensuring alignment with project budgets, schedules, and customer requirements.
• Develop and manage system requirements and technical specifications.
• Lead engineering development activities and oversee the technical execution of projects.
• Provide professional guidance and technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Direct integration and testing organizations throughout development and qualification phases.
• Review and approve safety and reliability concepts, analyses, and engineering solutions.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering – required.
• M.Sc. in Systems Engineering – advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of electronic or avionics systems – required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering – required.
• Proven hands-on development experience – required.
• Experience in the development of large-scale System-of-Systems (SoS) defense programs – significant advantage.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• High level of English proficiency, including speaking, reading, and writing.
