Operations Manager, the Azrieli Fellows Program

About the Program

The Azrieli Fellows Program is among Israel's most prestigious international research fellowships, supporting outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral researchers across all disciplines. We are a small, dedicated team working at the intersection of academic excellence and rigorous program delivery — from the careful selection of exceptional scholars through a competitive, multi-stage review process, to the design and execution of meaningful programming that brings our fellows community together. Our work encompasses the full arc of the fellowship experience: nurturing researchers at critical junctures in their careers, fostering intellectual growth beyond the lab or library, and maintaining close, attentive communication with fellows, host institutions, and the broader academic ecosystem.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced manager to take real ownership of the Program's day-to-day delivery, working in close partnership with the Global Director and the Program Director. Much of this role is hands-on production — making sure our full calendar of events, processes, and communications runs reliably and to a high standard — alongside a meaningful role supporting and strengthening the wider team.

Core Areas of Responsibility

Communications Workflows. Working alongside our Campaign Manager to learn and support the full range of the Program's communications, including outreach to academics in Israel and abroad, fellow-facing correspondence, digital communications and platforms, and the Program's flagship magazine, Aperio, with progressive ownership and growing independence over time.

Administration, Reporting, Finance, and Operational Excellence. Owning institutional reporting cycles, contributing to annual planning, and coordinating financial workflows with multiple academic institutions in Israel and the Azrieli Foundation; partnering with the Global Director on operational priorities; and leading structured analysis and improvement of operational processes toward more advanced workflows.

Fellowship Program Support. Present across all program activities and ready to carry a share of the load, including the detailed, process-heavy, and behind-the-scenes work that keeps a high-stakes fellowship program running without interruption — and working closely with our managers to support quality and consistency across everything we deliver.

Who We're Looking For

• Low ego and a genuinely collaborative temperament, with the range to move between high-level work and hands-on detail without treating any task as beneath them — this is essential, not incidental.
• A genuine commitment to excellence in execution: someone who takes satisfaction in making things run reliably and to a high standard, down to the finest detail.
• Substantial prior managerial experience, with the maturity and presence to support and mentor experienced colleagues, and the discretion and judgment to hold a position of trust.
• Strong academic background: a graduate degree is expected, and a doctorate is an advantage.
• Experience in academic or mission-driven environments an advantage.
• Demonstrated analytical capacity: mapping processes, identifying weaknesses, designing improvements, and seeing implementation through.
• Working fluently with current technology, including AI and automation tools.
• Sound financial and administrative judgment.
• Native written and spoken fluency in both Hebrew and English.
