Role Description This is a remote, contract role for a Freelance Interpreter. The interpreter will provide real-time interpretation between two or more languages in settings such as virtual meetings, conferences, interviews, training sessions, and client calls. Daily tasks include preparing for assignments by reviewing reference materials, glossaries, and background documents; performing simultaneous or consecutive interpreting; and ensuring accurate, impartial, and culturally appropriate communication. The role also involves clarifying terminology when needed, managing time effectively during sessions, and following client and company confidentiality and data protection guidelines. Freelance interpreters will collaborate with project managers, submit timely availability updates, and may be asked to provide brief written summaries or terminology notes following assignments.
Qualifications

• Strong interpreting skills, including simultaneous and/or consecutive interpreting, with the ability to convey meaning accurately and fluently in both directions between working languages.
• Excellent language proficiency in at least two languages (native or near-native level), with outstanding listening, speaking, and comprehension skills.
• Demonstrated ability to understand complex texts and subject matter, conduct quick background research, and build or use glossaries and terminology resources.
• High level of cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt tone, register, and style to different audiences while preserving the speaker’s intent.
• Proficiency with remote-interpreting and video-conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams) and reliable access to a computer, headset, and stable high-speed internet.
• Strong professional ethics, including confidentiality, neutrality, and adherence to client and company guidelines.
• Excellent time management, punctuality, and the ability to handle pressure and fast-paced conversational flow.
• Previous experience in interpreting, especially in legal, medical, business, or technical domains, is highly beneficial.
• Relevant education or training in translation, interpreting, linguistics, or a related field is an advantage, as are professional certifications where applicable.
