Senior Backend Engineer

Company Description Aculis.io is a data analysis platform designed for professional investors, with a focus on supporting value investing workflows. The platform helps users generate and test investment ideas, track positions, and manage portfolios in a structured and data-driven way.

You'll work directly with the CTO on the core of our platform. Your work will center on our data and AI layer, improving ETL and data pipelines, implementing AI agents, and building the orchestration layer that runs our platform's financial engine. This is a high-ownership backend role with real influence over architecture and a cutting-edge product built on the latest advances in LLMs and AI.

• Take ownership of features and systems, driving them from concept to production with minimal supervision
• Design and shape the general architecture of our backend systems and services
• Improve and harden our ETL and data pipelines
• Design and implement AI agents and agentic workflows
• Build a workflow management tool to orchestrate the calculations running across the platform's financial engine
• Work across our backend stack in both Python and TypeScript

Backend: Python and TypeScript, FastAPI, GraphQL, microservices, agentic AI AI: LLM-based systems built on Claude and Gemini Data: complex pipelines, a financial engine, Pandas, Pydantic Database: TimescaleDB on PostgreSQL (we expect this to evolve as needs change, likely staying within structured relational or time-series databases) Infra: Docker, AWS, GitHub Actions

• 5+ years of backend experience
• Strong Python, with solid TypeScript
• Strong grasp of system and architecture design
• Solid SQL and data modeling
• Experience building and operating data pipelines / ETL
• Microservices architecture
• Hands-on experience with AI / LLM-based systems
• Ownership mindset, strong communication, easy to work with

• FastAPI, Pandas, Pydantic
• Experience with agent frameworks or workflow orchestration
• Docker, AWS, GitHub Actions
• FinTech background
