Senior Backend Engineer

Global supply chains move the world, and most of it is currently invisible. Hoopo is changing that by bringing Fleet Intelligence to the world's largest shipping and transportation companies through a unique combination of hardware, signal processing, and AI.

We're looking for a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our innovative R&D team. In this role, you'll design and build scalable, high-performance systems that ingest and process data from millions of IoT devices operating across maritime, transportation, and aviation environments — transforming raw data into actionable intelligence that global logistics operators rely on every day. You'll have the opportunity to influence technical direction and translate complex product goals into clear technical roadmaps.

Hoopo is a venture-backed startup headquartered in Herzliya, Israel. We digitize unpowered fleets (containers, chassis, trailers, airport ground equipment, and more) — using the world’s most power-efficient tracking devices coupled with signal processing that makes it work in the world's harshest and most challenging environments. On top of that, we are building an AI-powered fleet intelligence platform that turns raw location data into operational insights for some of the largest shipping and logistics companies in the world.

What you'll be doing

• Transform global supply-chains with our unique and robust data sets. 
• Contribute to the development of Hoopo's next-generation of fleet intelligence solutions, including the introduction of new AI-powered features.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and efficient services and applications.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, QA, Hardware, and DevOps, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while following software engineering best practices.
• Work with modern cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies and incorporate them into product development.
• Build real-time IoT tracking and monitoring systems and services, leveraging data analysis and customer use cases to deliver actionable asset intelligence.
• Take ownership of technical design and implementation of complex end-to-end solutions.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core.
• Experience designing and building scalable, high-performance, and reliable applications.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, microservices architecture, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure is a significant advantage)
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Azure Service Bus, Kafka or similar technologies. 
• Proven ability to design and implement end-to-end solutions.
• Experience with AI development methodologists (Claude Code experience is an advantage).
• Familiarity with API design, integration, and modern web application development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent degree.

• Experience with Node.js.
• Experience with SQL and database design/management.
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
