R&D Engineer

New Phase is an innovative medical device startup developing a novel nanotechnology-based cancer treatment with clinical impact. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly motivated hands-on Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team and contribute to the development of breakthrough medical technologies.

Position Overview:

The R&D Engineer will lead multidisciplinary engineering activities supporting the development, testing, and validation of innovative medical device systems, from concept through execution. This role combines hands-on experimentation, system engineering, and project leadership to drive technical excellence and compliance with quality and regulatory requirements

Key Responsibilities:

· Participate in all aspects of the department activities and projects within New Phase

· Lead engineering projects from initiation to completion- Including planning the project,

defining the scope and schedule according to plan. System engineering activities – systems analysis, characterization, Integration, usability, verification and validation planning, testing and documentation.

· Assuring DHF documents, correct monitoring of subcontractors, maintaining project risk management activities, assuring meetings summary and Action Items, performing improvements, control and monitoring projects execution Managing the Sys. Physics lab and conducting experiments.

· Support any additional engineering and scientific efforts required to achieve the company's goals (such as: Pre-clinical / animal studies support, Heat Rate method validation, Cooling suit, SAR mitigations etc.)

· QA -RA project activities - assure all required documentation is in place as part of company's Quality system and regulatory requirements. Support QA/RA departments with relevant technical and project data.

Work in accordance with the company's quality system, cultural norms, and code of ethics

· R&D activities- work in liaison with other technological and scientific functionals in the company to research and develop innovative approaches to the company technological challenges, including RF radiation methods, SAR and body thermal regulation methods, related products, and devices. Follow design control procedures, conduct design reviews, plan, and perform R&D tests and reports, work with external subcontractors and consultants to facilitate engineering design solutions. Participate in R&D activities to meet company's business needs and vision.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 2–5+ years of experience in R&D roles within medical device, biotech, biomed, or diagnostic companies.

·    Hands on approach with strong technical skills.

• Proven experience working with multidisciplinary systems integrating mechanical, electrical, software, and/or physics-related components.
• Demonstrated experience in leading engineering projects from concept through execution, including planning, coordination, and delivery.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical design, modeling, and technical documentation support.
• Experience managing and collaborating with external subcontractors and consultants across engineering development, software, physics, testing, laboratories, standardization, and regulatory activities.
• Strong hands-on technical capabilities, including experimental work, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working within a regulated environment, including quality systems, design control, and technical documentation.
• Strong technical writing skills, with proven ability to prepare and maintain high-quality engineering, testing, and design control documentation in a regulated environment.
• Fluent English (written, verbal, and reading comprehension) – ability to communicate effectively and prepare technical documentation in English.
• Willingness to travel abroad as required
