Medical Director

A global late-stage biopharmaceutical company is developing novel, locally administered therapies designed to improve surgical outcomes and patient care.

The company’s proprietary PLEX technology platform enables controlled and continuous delivery of medications directly at the surgical site, supporting clinical programs in areas such as surgical site infection prevention, inflammation, pain management, and oncology.

This is a strategic medical leadership role within the clinical department, with broad impact across clinical development, regulatory strategy, safety oversight, and external scientific engagement.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead medical expert and primary authority for assigned clinical studies, including overall responsibility for patient safety oversight and key medical decision-making.
• Lead the review, analysis, and interpretation of clinical and safety data, translating findings into strategic insights for development decisions.
• Drive clinical trial design and contribute to the writing and review of key documents, including protocols, Investigator Brochures, Clinical Study Reports, and regulatory submissions.
• Provide medical leadership to cross-functional teams, including Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Data Management, and additional stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clinical investigators and key opinion leaders, including leading scientific forums such as Steering Committees and Advisory Boards.
• Represent the company with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, potential partners, investigator meetings, site visits, and international conferences.

Required Qualifications

• MD degree.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Medical Director or in a similar clinical development leadership role.
• Proven experience in clinical trial design and execution.
• Deep understanding of global clinical development and regulatory processes, including FDA, EMA, and related frameworks.
• Strong ability to analyze complex clinical data and lead strategic decision-making.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
