Student Research Engineer - Physical AI & Autonomous Systems

State16 is building Runtime Integrity and Physical Admissibility technology for autonomous systems, robotics, and Physical AI.

We are looking for an outstanding M.Sc. or Ph.D. candidate to help us build the validation and benchmarking infrastructure behind the next generation of trusted autonomous systems.

What You'll Work On

• Build realistic failure scenarios for drones, robots, and autonomous systems

• Develop benchmark suites for Physical AI validation

• Work with the Hugging Face LeRobot ecosystem

• Support customer POCs and pilot programs

• Design and execute Monte Carlo validation experiments

• Generate technical reports, visualizations, and demo assets

• Contribute to AI-assisted development workflows using Codex and Claude Code

Requirements

✓ M.Sc. or Ph.D. candidate

✓ Strong Python programming skills

✓ Experience with Git and GitHub

✓ Experience with Codex and/or Claude Code

✓ Strong analytical thinking

✓ Excellent written English

✓ Ability to work independently and drive projects from idea to execution

You will work directly with the founders and contribute to real products, customer pilots, benchmark development, and Physical AI validation systems.
