Manual QA Engineer

As a QA Engineer at SILK, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cloud-based storage solutions. This position goes beyond traditional QA - it requires a holistic approach to quality, covering all aspects of the testing process and influencing product design from the earliest stages.

You will work on validating complex, distributed systems deployed across multiple cloud environments (including Azure, AWS, and GCP), ensuring consistency, reliability, and performance in diverse and dynamic infrastructures. The role includes testing cross-cloud behaviors, infrastructure integrations, upgrade flows, and end-to-end system scenarios that mirror real customer deployments.

You will design and execute complex test plans that replicate real-world environments, collaborate with engineering teams, and contribute to both manual and automated testing efforts. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality products.

Responsibilities:

• Early Involvement: Participate in requirement reviews and design discussions to identify potential issues early in the development lifecycle
• Design, configure, and execute complex test plans and test cases across cloud‑based systems
• Develop test plans and cases for new functionality, covering all QA phases.
• Review and improve existing test plans to enhance coverage, address gaps, and prevent regressions.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing across multiple platforms.
• Track and communicate testing status clearly to stakeholders.
• Execute and analyze automation tests and contribute to automation frameworks.
• Write and maintain BDD‑based automated tests.
• Ensure adherence to QA methodologies, best practices, and quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.
  
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands on experience in manual testing of complex software systems running on Unix/Linux environments.
• Well-versed in QA methodologies and processes.
• Experience in executing and analyzing automation tests.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, data flows, integration points, and system bottlenecks.
• Ability to work on multiple project streams simultaneously.
• Architect-Level Thinking: Ability to influence quality strategy across teams and ensure end-to-end coverage
• Experience using AI assisted tools for QA activities, such as:
• AI tools for test generation, log analysis, failure investigation, or coverage improvement
• AI powered assistants to improve test design, debugging efficiency, and productivity
• Experience in storage, networking, or cloud infrastructure technologies. (advantage)
• Experience designing and writing behavior-driven automated test scenarios using frameworks such as Cucumber or similar (advantage).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Shell scripting and/or Python (advantage).
