Backend Engineer

We're looking for a backend engineer to work on our distributed storage integration stack — bridging a high-performance object store with standard file protocols

(SMB/NFS/S3). You'll work with an AI coding assistant as a daily co-pilot.

What You'll Do

- Build and maintain modules that translate file protocol operations into distributed object storage API calls

- Implement performance features: write caching, readahead, metadata caching, async I/O

- Debug cross-protocol issues (ACLs, path resolution, compatibility)

- Integrate the object store with data processing and analytics systems

- Write automation playbooks/roles for multi-node cluster deployment

- Build containerized deployments with HA cluster management and dual transport support (RDMA + TCP)

- Use AI tools for rapid prototyping, debugging, refactoring, and automation generation — directing AI to produce correct code, reviewing critically, and iterating fast

Requirements

- Strong programming skills in one or more of: Go, Java, C, or C++

- Experience with at least one: POSIX filesystem internals, NFS/SMB protocol implementation, or distributed storage systems

- Comfortable with Linux systems: kernel modules, RDMA, network stack, systemd

- Infrastructure-as-code and container experience

- Ability to work effectively with AI coding tools

Nice to Have

- Distributed object storage experience

- RDMA/InfiniBand programming

- HA clustering (fencing, quorum, VIP failover)

- Kerberos, Active Directory, and Windows ACL/NTFS permission models

- Network automation platform plugin development (Python/Django)
