Location: This is a full-time, on-site role at the Kinneret Innovation Center (Zemach Beach). Since the position includes substantial hands‑on lab prototyping, daily on‑site presence is essential.
Role Overview:
PerCiv is looking for a highly analytical and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team.
We need an engineer who fundamentally understands how materials behave under load, how strain transfers through complex assemblies, and how to measure the invisible. If you are fascinated by the Mechanics of Materials, love running FEA simulations, but also want to be the person 3D-printing the prototype and running the physical experiment in the lab, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sensor & Transducer Design: Design, iterate, and optimize mechanical strain amplifiers, sensor carriers, and mounting brackets to perfectly capture localized microstrain while navigating the complexities of composite anisotropy and thermal expansion.
- Advanced Simulation (FEA): Conduct Finite Element Analysis on composite pressure vessels to accurately map stress distributions, identify neutral axes, and simulate viscoelastic creep, hysteresis, and bending moments.
- Hands-On Prototyping: Take complete ownership of the prototyping lifecycle. You will translate your CAD designs into physical reality
- Experimental Testing: Design and lead experiments to validate your simulations. You will bridge the gap between theoretical math and empirical, real-world data.
Technical Requirements:
- A Mechanical Engineering with a heavy emphasis on Solid Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials, or Experimental Stress Analysis.
- The "Researcher/Maker" Hybrid: You possess a deep analytical mindset for academic research, coupled with the practical hands-on skills required to build what you design.
- Core Engineering Knowledge: A deep understanding of composite materials behaviour, strain transfer, shear stress, viscoelasticity, thermal expansion (CTE mismatch), and structural dynamics. Understanding of composite material behaviour is a must.
