As a part of our growing team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technical direction and culture. You'll spearhead the development of our AI models, with hands-on responsibility for designing, training, and implementing specialized language models and other NLP solutions optimized for children's interactions, all while leveraging cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Train from scratch our foundational safe LLM designed for children.
• Design and implement advanced AI solutions focused on safe foundational language models appropriate for children
• Research, evaluate, and adapt emerging approaches from academic literature and open-source communities, driving experimentation with agile methodologies to rapidly iterate and identify optimal solutions
• Collaborate across the founding team to integrate models into user-facing products
• Develop innovative strategies for collecting high-quality, ethically-sourced training and evaluation data specific to children's applications
• Develop AI safety standards and evaluation metrics for children's technology
• Mentor junior team members as the department grows

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in Machine Learning/Deep Learning
• Exceptional independence and resourcefulness - ability to overcome challenges autonomously and proactively drive consistent progress
• Proven experience in training deep learning models in a production setting
• Deep expertise in the LLM landscape
• Strong proficiency in Python development and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, etc.)
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in relevant technical field or equivalent research experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with LLM training/fine-tuning in shipped products
• Background in LLM guardrails or safety mechanisms
• Experience in AI applications specifically designed for children or educational contexts
