Staff Backend Developer

The Role

We are looking for a Staff Backend Developer to lead the architecture and development of a large-scale, AI-driven platform. In this role, you will design and build backend systems that power real-time, high-traffic applications used by a global audience.

You’ll play a key role in shaping system architecture, ensuring high performance and reliability, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful product features.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs (REST & gRPC)
• Build and optimize asynchronous applications handling real-time data processing at scale
• Architect systems with a strong focus on low latency, resiliency, and performance
• Ensure seamless integration between client applications and backend services
• Collaborate with AI/ML, product, DevOps, and frontend/mobile teams
• Drive architectural decisions and best practices across the engineering organization
• Work within CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient deployments
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance and reliability

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building scalable, distributed backend systems
• Strong experience with modern backend languages (Python/Java – must)
• Deep understanding of concurrency models (asyncio, threading, multiprocessing, etc.)
• Proven experience building high-scale asynchronous systems in production
• Hands-on experience with frameworks such as FastAPI and Pydantic
• Strong knowledge of API design (REST/gRPC), versioning, and backward compatibility
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB)
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD workflows
• Strong experience working with cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools

Nice to Have

• Experience with additional backend languages (Go, Rust, Java, Scala, Kotlin)
• Background in real-time systems, streaming, or communication platforms
• Experience with data processing tools (e.g., Pandas, Spark)
• Familiarity with AI/LLM ecosystems and model-serving frameworks
• Experience building data pipelines or working with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster)
• Contributions to open-source projects
