The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven System Engineer to lead the technical development of our core electro-optical (EO) imaging payloads. You will be the technical glue holding the payload architecture together, ensuring that our optical, mechanical, thermal, and electrical subsystems integrate flawlessly to survive the harsh environment of space and deliver world-class imaging performance.

Key Responsibilities

• System Performance: Oversee end-to-end system performance.
• System Architecture: Lead the system-level design, architecture, and trade studies for our space-based EO imaging payloads.
• Requirements Management: Define, analyse, and manage system and subsystem requirements, ensuring proper flow-down to cross-functional engineering teams (such as optical, mechanical, electrical, software).
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the technical bridge between different engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration and mitigate complex multidisciplinary conflicts.
• AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing): Define and oversee the system verification and validation (V&V) strategy, including environmental testing and optical calibration campaigns.
• Risk Management: Identify technical risks in the lifecycle and develop proactive mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of industry experience as a Systems Engineer or in a closely related technical leadership role.
• Electro-Optical Mastery: Deep understanding of EO imaging systems, including image sensors, optics, opto-mechanics, and image processing pipelines.
• Education: Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Problem Solver: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, taking ownership of complex problems from concept to product.

• Space Systems: Experience in developing hardware for the space environment.
• Experience in an early-stage startup environment.
