Application Security Engineer (WAF Specialist)

The Role

We are looking for a motivated Application Security Engineer/ WAF Specialist to join our delivery and professional services team. In this role, you will focus on Layer 7 traffic, helping our enterprise clients defend their complex web environments, optimize application delivery, and mitigate modern web threats. What You’ll Do

• L7 Security Implementations: Lead the deployment, configuration, and optimization of Application Security and WAF solutions.
• Traffic & Policy Tuning: Design and fine-tune WAF rules, Bot Management strategies, and DDoS mitigation policies to ensure maximum protection with minimum false positives.
• API & App Protection: Secure modern client environments (Web and APIs) against OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
• Troubleshooting: Solve technical issues involving DNS, SSL/TLS certificates, HTTP headers, and caching logic.
• Client Collaboration: Work closely with top-tier customers across Israel, providing architectural guidance and technical documentation.
  

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ Years of Experience: Proven background in Security Engineering, Network Security, or Application Delivery.
• WAF/L7 Hands-on Experience: Strong experience with at least one major Application Security/WAF platform. We primarily work with Cloudflare, but if your background is in Imperva, F5 (AWAF), Reblaze, Radware, or Akamai – we want to talk to you! 
• Core Web Protocols: Solid understanding of network and web protocols: HTTP(S), DNS, and SSL/TLS.
• Reverse Proxy & Delivery: Familiarity with reverse proxy architectures, CDN concepts, and load balancing.
• Diagnostic Skills: Comfortable using command-line tools for basic troubleshooting (e.g., curl, dig, traceroute, openssl).
• Great Communication: Ability to face customers, understand their technical needs, and explain security concepts clearly.

Nice-to-Have (Bonus Points)

• Experience with Cloudflare solutions (WAF, CDN, Workers, API Protection).
• Familiarity with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) or Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions.
• Basic scripting skills (Bash, Python, or JavaScript) for automating daily workflows.
• Understanding of Web Development concepts or web servers (Nginx, Apache).

Location: Holon - Hybrid Work Model

The position combines remote work (from home/ office) and on-site professional services at client locations.
