React Native Engineer

We're building a mobile trading tournament platform where users compete in real-time financial trading competitions. High-frequency gaming mechanics combined with real market data. We process thousands of concurrent transactions, manage complex tournament logic, and serve real-time leaderboards across iOS, Android, and web.

You'll own the mobile experience. 100% hands-on building and maintaining native iOS and Android apps using React Native. You'll handle everything from feature development to app store submissions, keeping the app fast, reliable, and competitive. Starting as one person, you'll be responsible for both platforms.

• Develop features for iOS and Android using React Native
• Integrate with backend APIs and handle real-time updates
• Manage native modules and platform-specific code (Swift, Kotlin)
• Optimize app performance and battery usage
• Implement secure storage for user data and authentication tokens
• Handle push notifications, deep linking, and in-app purchases
• Test on real devices and simulators
• Submit and maintain apps on App Store and Google Play
• Debug and fix production issues
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production
• Use AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development
• Validate and improve AI-generated code for both JavaScript and native modules
• Leverage AI for debugging, testing, and performance optimization
• Contribute to architectural decisions

Required:

• 4-6 years building React Native or mobile apps in production
• Strong React and TypeScript proficiency
• Experience with native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) basics
• App Store and Google Play submission process knowledge
• Testing on real devices (iPhone, Android phones)
• REST API integration and state management
• Ownership mentality—you care about app reliability and user experience
• Comfort using AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar)
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and know when to accept, modify, or reject it
• Experience using AI for code generation and testing
• Willingness to integrate AI into development workflow responsibly
• Understanding of AI limitations and when to override AI suggestions

Nice to have:

• Multiple React Native app launches on app stores
• Firebase or similar backend service experience
• Deep linking and app analytics implementation
• In-app purchase and payment handling
• CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane, GitHub Actions)
• Performance profiling and optimization
• Accessibility (VoiceOver, TalkBack) implementation
• Technical leadership or mentoring experience
• Advanced experience with AI-assisted mobile development
• Experience optimizing code using AI-powered analysis tools

Full Stack Capabilities (Big Advantage):

If you have Node.js/NestJS backend experience to build middleware layers (API abstraction, data transformation, real-time synchronization), that's a significant advantage for us. Being able to optimize the mobile-backend communication and create service layers independently is highly valued.
