Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Tel Aviv District, Israel, for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA). We are seeking a detail-oriented PostgreSQL DBA with 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience to join our database engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our PostgreSQL instances, with a heavy focus on query optimization and schema design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performance Tuning & Query Optimization

• Analyze slow queries using EXPLAIN ANALYZE and provide actionable recommendations to developers.
• Optimize database parameters (postgresql.conf) based on workload patterns.
• Implement and maintain indexing strategies (B-Tree, GIN, BRIN) to improve data retrieval speeds.

2. Database Modeling & Schema Design

• Design and implement robust database schemas following normalization best practices.
• Manage schema migrations and version control for database changes.
• Enforce data integrity through constraints, triggers, and foreign keys.

3. Development Support & Automation

• Write and maintain complex Stored Procedures (PL/pgSQL) and functions to support business logic.
• Utilize Linux, Bash, and Python to automate routine DBA tasks such as backups, monitoring alerts, and data cleanup.

4. Cloud Infrastructure Management (AWS)

• Manage and monitor Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Aurora instances.
• Configure RDS Parameter Groups, Option Groups, and Multi-AZ deployments for high availability.
• Handle storage scaling, IOPS management, and version upgrades in the AWS ecosystem.

5. Maintenance & Security

• Perform regular maintenance tasks (VACUUM, ANALYZE, Reindexing).
• Manage user roles, permissions, and row-level security (RLS).
• Ensure Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) capabilities and validate backup integrity.

Technical Requirements

• Experience: 2–3 years of professional experience as DBA and at least 1 year as PostgreSQL DBA
• SQL Mastery: Deep understanding of SQL, window functions, CTEs.
• Development : Experience with Database Development using Stored Procedures
• Tuning: Proven track record of resolving performance bottlenecks using tools like pg_stat_statements or pgBadger.
• Modeling: Strong grasp of ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram) tools and relational design.
• AWS Skills: Experience with AWS CloudWatch, RDS Snapshots, and IAM database authentication.
• Scripting: Proficiency in Bash or Python for automation is a significant advantage.
• OS: Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment.
