About STATE16
STATE16 is building the universal guardrail and evaluation platform for Physical AI. We wrap "black-box" World Models to enforce deterministic, physics-aware rules at runtime. Our technology prevents silent failures in closed-loop autonomy across robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles. By providing this safety net, we speed up deployment and offer a practical, auditable path to certifiable AI.
We are looking for a talented engineer to build the simulation infrastructure that will help us aggregate the world's largest proprietary dataset of Physical AI anomalies.
What You Will Do
- Simulation Architecture: Design, configure, and maintain physics-based simulation environments (preferably using MuJoCo or NVIDIA Isaac Sim) to validate models.
- Model Integration: Integrate open-source VLA models into the simulation to control robotic agents (e.g., drones, AMRs, robotic arms).
- API Development: Develop a clean, accessible API layer that allows us to inject STATE16's deterministic runtime guardrails into the simulated models.
- Data Visualization: Build a streamlined Model Evaluation Dashboard (e.g., using Streamlit or Gradio) for real-time visualization and data collection of model evaluations.
Who You Are
- Degree (or currently pursuing) in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- You understand rigid body dynamics, control theory, and real-world mechanical constraints. You know that AI optimizing for statistical loss and ignoring fundamental kinematics isn't enough for the physical world.
- Strong programming skills in Python (C++ is a major plus).
- Hands-on experience with robotic physics engines and simulators (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, PyBullet, or Gazebo).
- Solid understanding of ML/AI architectures (experience with VLA, Transformers, or World Models is highly preferred).
- A "builder" mindset: independent, fast-moving, and capable of turning theoretical concepts into working prototypes.
Position Types
We are currently offering two tracks for this role, depending on your availability and career stage:
- Full-Time Role (Founding Engineer): Ideal for a driven, experienced engineer looking to join our elite engineering core as a founding member. You will lead the simulation architecture, shape the future of AI safety from day one, and hold a pivotal role in hitting our Series A milestones.
- Student Position: Perfect for an outstanding M.Sc./Ph.D. (or exceptional B.Sc.) student. This track offers highly flexible hours, allowing you to combine academic-level research with hands-on startup execution, with a clear pathway to joining the founding team post-graduation.
