Head of Engineering

About the role

We're hiring a Head of Engineering to take ownership of GO-OUT's technical systems and infrastructure. The role works directly with the CEO and has a clear path to CTO based on impact and fit.

This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll be writing code, making architecture decisions, and on-call for production. It's not a pure-management seat.

About GO-OUT

GO-OUT is a live ticketing and event technology platform handling real users, real transactions, and high-load event days. The stack spans backend services, payments, real-time scanning and seating, mobile apps, admin tools, and the infrastructure underneath all of it. The environment is fast-moving and the engineering surface area is broad.

What you'll own

• Backend architecture, infrastructure, and production reliability

• Performance, scaling, and operational stability — especially around peak event load

• Production incidents and debugging

• Technical direction: what we build, how we build it, and what we stop doing

• Development workflow, tooling, and CI/CD

• Hiring and growing the engineering team as we scale

• Day-to-day collaboration with leadership and product

What we're looking for

A senior backend engineer who codes daily, has run production systems, and is ready to step into a leadership role — or has done so before in a small, high-ownership environment. You think practically, stay calm under pressure, understand business impact, and can move fast without leaving complexity behind.

Required experience

Backend

Strong Node.js, API design, distributed systems thinking, production debugging.

Databases

MongoDB at scale — query optimization, indexing, data modeling, performance work.

Cloud and infrastructure

AWS, load balancing, scaling patterns, monitoring and operational tooling.

Strong advantages

• Kubernetes, DevOps mindset, mature CI/CD pipelines

• Payments or financial transaction systems

• Real-time systems

• React / Next.js or React Native familiarity (we have web and mobile clients)
