Engineering Squad Lead

A fast-growing fintech startup is looking for a Engineering Squad Lead to join a high-impact engineering team building large-scale, AI-driven systems in production.

This is not a classic management role - we’re looking for someone who leads by building, stays hands-on, and drives technical excellence from within the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3–5 engineers while staying deeply hands-on
• Own backend architecture and design scalable, production-grade systems
• Build and improve distributed, event-driven systems in a high-scale environment
• Drive technical decisions, code quality, and engineering best practices
• Work closely with product, leadership, and cross-functional teams
• Mentor engineers and help grow a high-performing team
• Integrate AI tools and workflows into daily engineering processes
  
  

• Strong Backend development experience with Node.js / TypeScript
• Proven experience with system design, architecture, and large-scale production systems
• 2+ years of team leadership / technical leadership experience
• Strong experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka
• Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL
• Hands-on mindset : someone who still codes and leads from the front
• Startup mentality with high ownership and fast execution
• Daily usage of AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, Codex, and AI-driven automations
