Control Algorithm Validation Engineer – Manual and Automation (student position)

Part-time position – 50%

Primary Role

Take part in the validation of advanced motion control algorithms for industrial robotic systems, working closely with the control algorithm team to deeply understand system behavior, assumptions, and design trade-offs.

The role includes developing dedicated validation environments and tools, and executing structured validation processes to ensure algorithm correctness, robustness, and real-world performance.

Validation activities combine simulation, system-level testing and automation, providing hands-on experience across the full hardware – software control stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain validation environments for control algorithms (simulation, automation and lab setups).
• Design and execute validation plans to verify control performance, stability, and robustness.
• Analyze system behavior under nominal and edge-case scenarios (noise, disturbances, nonlinearities).
• Work closely with the control algorithm team to understand models, assumptions and expected behavior.
• Identify, debug and find root-cause algorithmic and integration issues.
• Manage bug tracking, prioritization, and follow-up for control-related issues.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong control theory and system dynamics understanding
• Programming knowledge (e.g., Python / MATLAB / C / C++)
• Knowledge in physics
• One year left in an academic institute

Knowledge

• B.Sc. student in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Specialize in Control Theory – Must
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Python / MATLAB / Simulink) – Advantage
• Experience with automated testing or scripting – Advantage
• Background in electronics (Military / High school / University courses / Practical engineering) – Advantage
