VP of Research and Development

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Direct and mentor the Systems Engineering, Mechanics, Software, and Automation teams.
• Product Evolution: Oversee the improvement and cost reduction (VAVE) of existing commercial products to maintain market competitiveness.
• New Product Development: Lead the end-to-end development of complex new diagnostic systems, ensuring high-quality architectural design and clinical readiness.
• Scale-up & Automation: Drive the transition of R&D designs into high-volume production through advanced automation and manufacturing strategies.
• Technical Integration: Ensure seamless performance across subsystems including hardware, software, optics, and mechanics.

Qualifications

• Education: Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (preferred).

Required Skills

• Leadership Experience: Proven track record as a VP of R&D leading multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
• Industry Expertise: Substantial experience in the medical device industry is required.
• Product Maturity: Demonstrated experience managing mature, commercial-stage products; experience limited to pre-commercial/R&D stages will not suffice.
• Technical Breadth: Deep understanding of complex systems integrating hardware, software, optics, and mechanics.
• Operational Skills: Ability to balance long-term innovation with the immediate needs of a rapidly scaling commercial fleet.
