Junior Computer Vision Engineer Location: North Israel

Role Description

We are looking for an entry-level Algorithm Engineer (Computer Vision Engineer) to join our AI team, which is engaged in developing advanced algorithms for analyzing Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images to identify microorganisms in food and industrial systems.

The role involves working directly and closely with the VP of AI, developing Deep Learning models from scratch, advanced image processing, and large-scale data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

·   Model Development:  Develop and train Deep Learning models for identifying microorganisms, including challenging hands-on work with microscope images (SEM).

·   Infrastructure & Optimization: Participate in building training pipelines and improving the performance of existing models.

·   Advanced Algorithmics: Develop Smart Search algorithms and improve scanning and Region of Interest (ROI) detection algorithms.

·   Cross-functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively and maintain a continuous interface with the chemistry and laboratory teams.

Requirements

·   Education: B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

·   Technical Skills: Practical programming experience in Python and working with NumPy and OpenCV. Background and practical familiarity (including academic projects) with Deep Learning libraries, with an emphasis on PyTorch or TensorFlow.

·   Practical Experience: A prominent practical/research project in the field of Computer Vision.

·   Significant Advantages: Understanding of or experience in Object Detection and Segmentation (familiarity with Instance Segmentation and SAM is a plus). Familiarity with annotation pipelines, handling large datasets, and experience in Linux and Git environments. Familiarity with the world of Microscopy/Medical Imaging, working with Docker, understanding of MLOps, and training models on GPUs are additional advantages.

·   Strong analytical thinking and excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong work ethic. Ability to work independently, learn quickly, demonstrate personal initiative, and integrate into a small, dynamic team. A hunger to learn, develop, and explore new technologies.
