Manager of Laboratory Operations

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organized and technically proficient Manager of Laboratory Operations to lead the activities in our laboratories in Kiryat Shmona. In this role, you will be the backbone of our scientific efforts, ensuring that our researchers have the environment, equipment, and protocols necessary for their success. This is a leadership position that combines hands-on technical knowledge with strategic operational management.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Oversee daily laboratory operations, including managing personnel schedules, optimizing workflow, and coordinating cross-departmental activities.
• Infrastructure & Equipment: Lead the procurement, installation, and maintenance processes for advanced laboratory instrumentation.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external suppliers and service providers.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict safety standards (GLP/ISO).
• Safety Responsibility: Act as the Chief Safety Officer, ensuring the rigorous implementation of hazardous waste disposal and chemical hygiene procedures.
• Budget & Inventory: Manage the laboratory's annual operating budget, optimize the supply chain, and implement digital inventory management systems (LIMS).
• Team Mentoring: Supervise and train laboratory technicians and junior researchers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
• SOP Development: Write, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure experimental reproducibility and data integrity.
• Ongoing Experiments: Conduct daily laboratory experiments utilizing new and customized protocols.

Requirements

• Education: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or another relevant field.
• Experience: Over 5 years of laboratory experience (with an emphasis on Wet Lab), including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role (industry experience is mandatory).
• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of molecular biology techniques, genetics, or relevant analytical platforms.
• Information Systems: Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) – a significant advantage.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership abilities, problem-solving under pressure, and effective communication skills with both executive management (C-suite) and the technical team.
• Languages: Native-level Hebrew; professional-level English (written and spoken).
