Gong is looking for a highly motivated Engineering Team Lead to join our exceptional R&D organization within the Data Platform group. This group manages Gong’s data layer and serves as the backbone of our data applications, analytics, and semantic layer, powering the most data-intensive aspects of Gong’s platform.

You’ll Own

Team Evolution & Mentorship: Leading and expanding a growing squad of backend and frontend engineers, while coaching and mentoring individuals to reach their full potential.

• Roadmap Partnership: Collaborating closely with Product Management to shape the team’s roadmap, ensuring the right balance between product milestones and engineering health.
• Hiring & Talent: Driving the hiring process to bring in top-tier talent and ensuring the successful onboarding and growth of new team members.
  
  

• Architectural Complexity: Designing and architecting long-term technical solutions that meet the demands of a large-scale enterprise platform.
• Priority Balancing: Navigating the tension between high-velocity product delivery and continuous optimization of the core application infrastructure.
• Process Bottlenecks: Leading by example to identify and resolve inefficiencies in the development lifecycle, driving continuous improvement across the team.
  
  

• Platform & Customer Success: Delivering high-impact technical solutions that directly improve the experience for Gong’s global customer base.
• Engineering Excellence: Setting the bar for coding standards, architectural integrity, and infrastructure reliability across the organization.

• An experienced team leader (4+ years managing people) with a hands-on approach.
• A software development veteran with 10+ years of industry experience, focused on large-scale, cloud-based technologies.
• Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (an advantage).
• Experience with user-facing products and UI development (an advantage).
• A degree in computer science or a related field (preferred).
• Most importantly, a passion for motivating, mentoring, and developing team members.
