VP R&D

We are looking for a visionary and execution-oriented VP R&D to join our executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a key partner in shaping the company’s business and technological future.

A leader who breathes DevTools, Open Source, or Infrastructure, and who possesses an AI-first mindset.

You will lead a high-caliber team of ~40 engineers, driving the evolution of our platform while ensuring that AI is not just a buzzword, but a core component of our execution and product DNA.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute an R&D roadmap that aligns with aggressive business goals. As a member of the executive team, you will influence the company's long-term strategy and commercial success.
• Engineering Excellence: Lead, mentor, and scale a diverse team of ~40 developers, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous innovation.
• Product-Tech Synergy: Oversee the full SDLC with a deep understanding of product-led growth, ensuring high-quality delivery in a fast-paced B2B SaaS environment.
• AI Integration: Champion an AI-centric mindset across the R&D organization. Lead the practical implementation of AI/LLM technologies (utilizing Cursor, Claude, and modern AI stacks) to optimize internal workflows and enhance product capabilities.
• Infrastructure & Data: Provide architectural guidance in the realms of Databases, DevOps, and Infrastructure, ensuring our systems are scalable, resilient, and cutting-edge.
• Business Acumen: Bridge the gap between complex technical challenges and business value. Manage the R&D budget and resource allocation with a ROI-driven approach.
• Ecosystem Engagement: Stay at the forefront of the Open Source and DevTool communities to maintain our competitive edge.

Requirements

• Experience: Experience in a senior leadership role (VP R&D / CTO) within a B2B SaaS company.
• Domain Expertise: Proven track record in building and scaling Developer Tools, Infrastructure, or Database-centric products.
• AI Mastery: A strong orientation toward AI/ML. You must demonstrate a hands-on understanding of how to implement AI technologies (e.g., Cursor-based development, Claude/GPT integration) to drive R&D efficiency.
• Execution Machine: You are known for your ability to "get things done." You balance high-level strategy with a deep-dive technical understanding when necessary.
• Management Scale: Experience managing organizations of 30-50+ people, including managers of managers.
• Business Mindset: Ability to report to a CEO and interact with board members, translating technical milestones into business impact.
• Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
