Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Agronomy Department Manager, based in Mei Ami. The role combines professional agronomic leadership with department management responsibilities in a dynamic commercial nursery environment.
The Agronomy Department Manager will lead the agronomic team and oversee key cross-departmental professional areas, including plant protection, irrigation and fertigation, crop monitoring, growing protocols, and agronomic data analysis. The role includes translating company goals and management decisions into clear work plans, priorities, and day-to-day implementation across the department’s different production areas.
Responsibilities include leading professional processes, supporting and guiding agronomists, strengthening Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, improving monitoring and control systems, and driving continuous improvement in growing methods, plant quality, and operational performance. The role also requires close collaboration with production, technical, operational, and management teams, while maintaining a broad systemic perspective and a strong connection between field realities, professional standards, and organizational goals.
Qualifications
Deep agronomic expertise and practical experience in commercial horticulture or nursery production.
Proven leadership and management experience, with the ability to lead teams, drive cross-organizational processes, and operate effectively in a multi-interface environment.
Broad systemic perspective, with the ability to integrate agronomic, operational, and organizational considerations into structured decision-making and execution.
Strong professional background in plant protection, including monitoring, prevention, analysis, and implementation of IPM-based strategies and practices.
Solid understanding of irrigation and fertigation management, with the ability to connect water and nutrition programs to crop performance and product quality.
Experience in crop monitoring, protocol development, data collection and analysis, and translating insights into practical recommendations and actions.
High level of responsibility, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain composure and sound judgment under pressure.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with management, production, technical teams, and external professionals.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Experience in plant propagation techniques and nursery management - an advantage.
