About the role:

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to be the technical leader of our engineering team. This is a hands-on role — you will spend most of your time writing code, designing systems, and shipping product, while also leading a small, high-performing team of engineers.

You will be responsible for the quality and direction of our backend and AI systems, owning architecture decisions, driving production excellence, and setting the engineering bar for the team. You will report directly to the CTO and serve as the engineering team’s day-to-day leader.

This is not a management-heavy role. We need someone who leads by building — someone who can architect a solution in the morning, review a pull request over lunch, and debug a production issue in the afternoon.

What You'll Do:

• Lead a team of 3–5 engineers, providing technical direction, code reviews, and mentorship
• Spend 70%+ of your time hands-on — designing, building, and shipping production systems
• Own backend and AI architecture decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Design and implement LLM-based agent systems, including reasoning workflows, tool use, and orchestration
• Drive production excellence across the team: deployments, logging, tracing, observability, and incident response
• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and TypeScript
• Work within and improve CI/CD pipelines to ensure code is tested, validated, and safely deployed
• Collaborate closely with the CTO and product team to translate product vision into technical execution
• Participate in hiring decisions and help shape the growth of the engineering team

What We're Looking For:

• 8+ years of experience as a backend or systems engineer, with meaningful time spent as a technical lead or engineering manager
• Strong fundamentals in software architecture, system design, and engineering best practices
• Production experience that goes beyond writing code — you have owned deployments, logging, tracing, monitoring, and on-call
• Hands-on experience building LLM-based applications or agents in production
• Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript, with solid experience in at least one (experience with both is a significant advantage)
• Experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers (3–5 people)
• Comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines and automated development workflows
• Strong experience with APIs, databases, and distributed systems
• Ability to own features and systems end-to-end, from design through deployment and operational support

Nice to Have:

• Experience with our stack: LangGraph, FastAPI, Next.js
• Experience with GCP serverless architecture
• Familiarity with Coralogix or similar observability platforms
• Experience in early-stage or fast-moving product teams
• Previous role as Engineering Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Engineering Manager at a startup
