A defense technology company is seeking a Backend Team Lead to drive the development of real-time, mission-critical systems, combining hands-on C++ expertise with technical leadership in complex environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers while driving technical excellence and ownership
- Own backend development from architecture definition through production deployment
- Develop high-performance C++ systems for real-time, low-latency environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and product
- Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability in production
- Conduct code and design reviews and enforce engineering best practices
- Lead Agile processes including planning, prioritization, and delivery
- Support hiring, onboarding, and team scaling
Requirements:
- 7+ years of software development experience with strong C++ expertise
- Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers
- Strong system design and architecture capabilities
- Deep understanding of OOP, memory management, multithreading, and concurrency
- Experience developing complex real-time systems
- Strong experience working in Linux environments
- Experience with Git and modern development tools
- Strong ownership mindset and end-to-end responsibility
