Border Team Mission
At Algolight, we are building the next generation of autonomous, multi-sensor AI systems designed to operate in real, operational environments — not just in theory. Our work spans from raw sensor data to high-confidence triage, reasoning, and autonomous decision-making, enabling scalable, robust, and intelligent systems that reduce cognitive load on operators and help drive safer, more effective national operations.
As part of a national effort to modernize border operations, you will be a core technical force — helping define, design, implement, and scale AI-driven architectures that tie together data, models, agents, and operational systems.
🚀 What You’ll Be Responsible For
Radar Signal Processing & Detection
- Design and implement radar signal processing pipelines:
- Range–Doppler / Range–Angle processing
- Detection under low SNR and high clutter
- CFAR and adaptive thresholding techniques
- Handle real-world radar artifacts:
- Multipath, ground clutter, weather effects
- False alarms from terrain and infrastructure
Tracking, Estimation & Motion Modeling
- Develop and maintain multi-target tracking algorithms:
- Kalman / EKF / UKF / particle filtering
- Track initiation, maintenance, and termination
- Address ID stability, track fragmentation, and association challenges.
- Model motion for different target classes (humans, vehicles, animals).
Radar Data Handling & Quality Control
- Work directly with raw and semi-processed radar data.
- Design mechanisms for:
- Data normalization and calibration
- Sensor health monitoring
- Quality metrics and confidence estimation
Multi-Sensor Fusion
- Integrate radar outputs with other sensing modalities:
- EO/IR cameras
- Event-based vision
- Acoustic / seismic sensors
- Contribute to cross-sensor association and confidence fusion logic.
- Support downstream modules such as:
- event triage, scoring, and autonomous decision engines.
Research to Production
- Translate research-grade algorithms into robust, real-time implementations.
- Benchmark algorithms against operational datasets.
- Iterate based on field data, not only simulations.
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Work closely with perception, autonomy, and data platform teams.
- Help define radar-related interfaces, outputs, and system-level assumptions.
- Contribute to long-term sensing and fusion strategy.
🎯 What We Are Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in radar systems, signal processing, or applied physics.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing radar algorithms.
- Deep understanding of:
- Radar signal processing
- Detection theory
- Estimation and tracking
- Ability to work with raw sensor data, not only high-level abstractions.
- Strong programming skills (Python, C++ or similar).
Technical Strengths
- Radar detection and CFAR techniques.
- Multi-target tracking and data association.
- Statistical signal processing and estimation theory.
- Handling noisy, incomplete, and adversarial data.
- Algorithm validation and benchmarking.

- Experience with operational radar systems (defense, aerospace, border, maritime).
- Exposure to multi-sensor fusion systems.
- Familiarity with real-time or edge-deployed systems.
- Experience transitioning algorithms from research to production.
