Procurement Specialist

Description

SUMMARY

The Packaging Distribution Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of product sourcing, supplier relationships, and procurement strategy within assigned packaging categories. This role drives cost optimization, ensures product availability, and supports sales and operations through responsive sourcing, strong vendor partnerships, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, negotiation, and supplier selection,
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while holding vendors accountable to company compliance standards
• Conduct annual business reviews with key suppliers to evaluate performance, pricing, and partnership opportunities
• Source corrugated packaging and distribution non-corrugated products quickly and effectively to support Sales Representative requests and customer-specific needs
• Manage inventory levels across SKUs to ensure high service levels while minimizing excess and obsolescence
• Partner with Inventory and Operations teams to establish and maintain accurate reorder points and buying parameters
• Analyze demand trends, order history, and inventory turns to optimize purchasing strategies
• Resolve supplier-related issues including quality concerns, shortages, and delivery delays
• Maintain integrity of item master data, including initial setup, ongoing maintenance, pricing, and specifications
• Identify and execute cost savings initiatives through vendor consolidation, alternate sourcing, and process improvements
• Manage detailed category-level projects and contribute to broader procurement and supply chain initiatives
  
  

Requirements/Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  
  

Experience

• 3+ years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience, preferably in packaging or distribution
• Strong negotiation, sourcing, and supplier management skills
• Experience with corrugated, packaging materials, or industrial distribution preferred
