Hardware Technician/Practical Engineer

We are seeking an R&D Hardware Technician/Practical Engineer with expertise in RF/Optical/Communication systems. This role requires close work with hardware design and design verification teams.

In this role you’ll work closely with hardware design and software engineers to execute HW/Optics/SW integration and validation starting from bring phase up to proof of design.

Core Technical Skills

• Strong ability to read and interpret hardware schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts
• Hands-on experience with electronic components (resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors, etc.)
• Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies
• Experience in hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation
• Basic understanding of embedded systems and hardware-software integration

Hardware & Software Integration

• Ability to work closely with firmware/software teams to:
• Load and configure firmware onto hardware boards
• Perform integration testing between hardware and software
• Identify and isolate issues (hardware vs. software root cause)
• Experience with communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C)

Testing & Validation

• Execute functional, environmental, and regression tests
• Develop and follow test procedures and test plans
• Document test results and report issues clearly
• Support failure analysis and troubleshooting
• Experience with automated testing tools/scripts is a plus
• Validation and repair of electrical cards (level D)

·        Support Qualification Testing

Collaboration & Workflow

• Work closely with hardware engineers during:
• Prototyping and board bring-up
• Design verification stages
• Debugging and iteration cycles
• Provide feedback on design for manufacturability and testability
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams (R&D, QA, production)

Documentation & Tools

• Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation
• Experience with tools like:
• Orcad (for schematic/PCB viewing)
• Issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira)
• Version control basics (e.g., Git – optional but useful)

Education & Experience

• Diploma / Associate’s / Technician certification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field
• 2+ years (or as required) of relevant hands-on experience in hardware lab
• Work experience and knowledge in Optical components - advantage
