Back End Developer

About the Role

We’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join the engineering team building the next generation of Yolk’s AI-powered sales coaching platform.

You’ll focus on designing and building backend services, APIs, and core infrastructure, powering systems that transform real sales conversations into actionable AI-driven training.

While the role is backend-focused, familiarity with frontend technologies is an advantage, especially when collaborating on end-to-end product features.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building scalable systems, working close to product and AI components, and taking ownership in a fast-moving environment.

Yolk is a VC-backed startup (backed by investors in companies like Anthropic, Groq, and TensorNet) on a mission to transform how sales teams learn and perform.

We are building an AI sales coach that helps revenue teams identify deal-killing mistakes before they impact the forecast. Our platform analyzes real sales conversations and delivers targeted coaching to improve discovery, objection handling, negotiation, and more.

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs
• Develop systems for processing and analyzing conversation data
• Integrate AI and agentic workflows into core product functionality
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability as the system scales
• Collaborate with product and frontend teams on end-to-end features
  

Must-have:

• Strong programming ability and solid computer science fundamentals
• Experience building backend services in Python and modern API frameworks
• Experience working with APIs, databases, and distributed systems
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot)
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and scalable code
• Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with frontend technologies (React / Next.js)
• Experience with Docker and production-ready environments
• Experience with messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, FastStream)
• Understanding of real-time systems and WebSocket scaling (e.g., Redis Pub/Sub)
• Experience working with LLMs and agentic workflows (tool use, orchestration, multi-step reasoning)
