We are looking for an experienced, strategic, and relationship-driven fundraising professional to join our team as Director of Philanthropy.
How you will make a difference:
The Good Food Institute (GFI)'s work is made possible through philanthropy.
We fundraise as a network of nonprofits through a collaborative operating model toward a global fundraising goal. In this senior frontline fundraising role, you will be responsible for building and sustaining meaningful relationships with our family of supporters, including individuals, families, and foundations across Israel and internationally.
The Director of Philanthropy will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing a strategic and ambitious fundraising plan in alignment with our global development strategy.
- Setting and achieving ambitious fundraising targets. Monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Building strong, meaningful, long-term relationships with major donors and prospects (individuals and foundations) to secure and expand their support, working closely with leadership and program teams.
- Ensuring accurate, timely and thorough correspondence, acknowledgement and record-keeping at all stages of the donor journey. You will use our CRM system (Salesforce) to manage your portfolio, ensure donor data is correct, pull reports, and analyze data.
- Coordinating closely with global GFI development colleagues, including aligning around donor strategies, participating in regular meetings (some may be outside of regular working hours, with colleagues in different time zones), and providing impact reports for stewardship purposes.
- Coordinate with the global Foundation Relations Team to solicit and steward grants.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop donor-engagement content, including impact reports.
- Conduct research, prepare materials and support donor meetings with relevant insights.
- Develop a deep understanding of GFI’s theory of change, workstreams, and impact to communicate our mission and vision to donors and stakeholders effectively.
- Represent GFI Israel externally with professionalism, clarity, and inspiration.
- Perform other relevant duties as required.
The Director of Philanthropy should have:
- At least 5 years of experience in fundraising or development, and at least 2 years in a frontline role cultivating major donor relationships and securing significant gifts (required).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hebrew (required).
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into compelling donor communications and grant proposals.
- Proven ability to manage donor relationships, including research, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, families, and foundations with leadership giving potential.
- Experience with grant writing and institutional fundraising, including identifying and applying for foundation and government grants.
- Strong project management and communication skills, with experience guiding internal teams through grant processes and coordinating complex fundraising efforts.
- Financial acumen, including developing budgets, preparing financial reports, and interpreting financial statements.
- Technical proficiency, with experience managing donor databases (preferably Salesforce), conducting donor research, and using Google Suite and online fundraising tools.
- Alignment with GFI’s mission and a demonstrated commitment to causes such as environmental sustainability, public health, animal protection, or hunger relief.
- Comfort working across time zones with international colleagues, including occasional evening or early morning calls.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.

Location: Hybrid, 2 days a week in Tel Aviv
Working closely with GFI’s global development team, your performance in this role has the potential to make a significant impact on how quickly the world moves to a more secure and sustainable food system. As the lead development professional at GFI Israel, you will scope and deliver a robust fundraising strategy fully aligned and integrated with the GFI global fundraising strategy. You will work closely with the CEO of GFI Israel, the VP of Sustainability and Operations, and colleagues from GFI’s global development team to grow GFI Israel’s revenue and maximize its contribution to our global goals.
