Call for Research Students and Fellows | Technion – Israel Institute of Technology
Music is increasingly recognized not merely as an artistic domain, but as a significant epistemic framework for understanding cognition, emotion, physiology, and human interaction.
At the Technion, I am developing an interdisciplinary research platform that situates music at the intersection of science, engineering, and technology. This work seeks to examine how musical practice—particularly performance, improvisation, and communication—can contribute to contemporary research in areas such as neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and human-centered systems.
Current research directions include:
• Music communication and mediated audience experience
• Music, artificial intelligence, and physiological identification
• Improvisation as a model for cognitive flexibility and adaptive expertise
• Neural and motor mechanisms underlying pianistic performance
This framework is intentionally open and generative. Applicants are encouraged to propose original research projects that extend these directions, including connections to medicine, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, or leadership studies.
I invite applications from students and fellows who demonstrate strong analytical abilities, intellectual independence, and an interest in interdisciplinary inquiry. The aim is to foster rigorous academic research alongside broader cultural and technological impact.
