Software Engineering Lead (Hands-on) | C++ | Real-Time Systems | Defense Tech Startup

A fast-growing Deep-Tech company is seeking a senior Software Engineering leader to play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling its core systems.

This role combines deep technical involvement with leadership responsibility, focusing on transforming advanced R&D capabilities into reliable, scalable, customer-facing products.

🎯 Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the software domain while remaining actively involved in development
• Build and mature a Product Engineering layer that connects research and production
• Develop and maintain complex real-time applications in Linux environments
• Work closely with embedded and edge systems, including hardware integration
• Improve development workflows, system robustness, testing practices, and deployment pipelines
• Investigate and resolve complex production and field issues, including deep debugging
• Define and implement engineering standards and best practices (CI/CD for embedded systems is a strong advantage)
• Lead and support a small team of engineers, with future growth in mind
• Collaborate closely with algorithm, DevOps, and cross-functional teams

📌 Requirements:

• Strong background in C++ (modern standards such as C++17 / C++20)
• Solid experience building real-time systems on Linux
• Experience working with embedded or edge-based systems
• Proven track record of delivering products into real-world production environments
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex system issues in the field
• Experience leading or mentoring small teams (approx. 4–10 engineers)
• Experience improving engineering processes, stability, and production readiness
• Ability to balance hands-on coding with technical leadership

• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for embedded environments
• Deep Linux knowledge (system-level or kernel-level)
• Experience with multi-threading and performance optimization
• Familiarity with ARM-based systems
