Backend Team Lead

Role Summary:

The Backend Team Lead will be responsible for the technical delivery of backend systems, from sprint planning and hands-on coding to mentoring developers and collaborating with architects. This role bridges strategic product goals with day-to-day engineering execution, ensuring quality, speed, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Core Engineering:

• 7+ years of professional backend development experience
• Expertise with cloud technologies: AWS, Kubernetes
• Strong experience with PHP frameworks (Symfony, Laravel) or similar (Java + Spring Boot)
• Proficiency with relational databases: PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Solid understanding of OOP, SOLID, KISS, and DRY principles; ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Hands-on experience with modern AI development tools (Claude Code, AI agents, MCP, code assistants) is a plus
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal

Leadership & Delivery:

• 3+ years in an engineering management or team lead role
• Proven ability to manage development across multiple systems, interfaces, and integrations simultaneously
• Strong Agile/Scrum expertise, including leading sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives, and cross-team delivery
• Experience leading cross-functional teams, managing parallel workstreams, and ensuring high-quality execution
• Track record of accurate effort estimation, early blocker detection, and proactive risk management
