Senior Optical & Electro-optical Engineer

Position:

Leading the electro-optical discipline in the development of cutting-edge multidisciplinary systems for the semiconductors and PV industries in an Israeli R&D center owned by Chinese laser tools experts ‘Wuhan DR laser’. Design and build the optical modules and setups, utilizing the most advanced optical technologies such as ultra-fast laser scanning, beam shaping, multiple high-resolution imaging & automatic optical inspection, material processing by lasers and others. Reports to the GM.

Responsibilities:

• Design of system concepts and optical modules for the company products mainly based on high-power laser scanners and imaging devices, including alignment, calibration and testing means & procedures.
• Designing and building optical lab set-ups, leading proof of concepts based on system requirements and carrying out electro-optical experiments independently
• Work with suppliers and subcontractors; provide optical specifications, participate in assembling, alignments, system calibrations and testing of the designed components, modules and systems.
• Initiation and execution of engineering design changes for continuous improvement of existing products, based on data collections and analyses
• Collecting and processing data of system performance in order to find root cause of malfunctions and ways for performance improvement.
• Ability to design and optimize optical path and calibrate existing modules
• Providing documentation, knowledge transfer and trainings for production and service engineers abroad.

Education & Core Requirements:

• M.Sc. in Physics (Must).
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the development of multidisciplinary optical systems.
• Proven track record in designing laser scanners, imaging systems, and illumination modules.
• Deep expertise in both standard and custom optical components.

It’s a major advantage if you have:

• A Ph.D. specializing in lasers or optical systems.
• Experience with Power Lasers and High-speed scanners.
• Background in developing Electro-optical devices and working with High-resolution cameras.

Other

• Experience with optical design and simulation software, e.g. (Zemx Matlab / Python - major advantage)
• ‘Multidisciplinary mindset’, collaborate with other disciplines (mechanics, SW, electronics, materials process)
• Ability to execute optical experiments and connect electro-optical equipment independently.
• Good communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly - orally and in writing
• Advanced user of MS Office programs
• Highly proficient in English
• Readiness to travel abroad, mainly to China.
