Firmware Security Engineer

An early-stage Israeli stealth startup is developing end-to-end hardware-based security solutions for next-generation on-chip architectures.

Founded by a veteran industry expert, the company focuses on building specialized security layers directly into the silicon to protect embedded systems from complex hardware and software threats.

The company is located in Central Israel (prime location near major transport hubs) and operates a hybrid work model.

Role Overview:

• Founding Engineering: Leading the research and development of security-focused firmware and low-level software for complex SoC architectures.
• Firmware Security: Designing and implementing secure boot-loaders, trusted execution environments, and encrypted code execution pathways (FSBL, U-Boot, Bare-metal).
• Security Architecting: Developing and deploying critical security features including TrustZone/TEE, key provisioning, and code encryption protocols.
• Kernel & OS Development: Customizing Linux Kernels and RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) to enforce hardware-level security policies.
• Hardware-Software Interface: Working extensively with Technical Reference Manuals and Datasheets to map hardware security features to software execution.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in SoC Firmware R&D – Mandatory.
• Expertise in low-level development (FSBL, U-Boot, Linux Kernel, FreeRTOS, or Bare-metal) for embedded security – Mandatory.
• 5+ years of experience with ARM-based SoCs – Mandatory.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Secure Boot, Code Encryption, and TrustZone/TEE – Mandatory.
• High proficiency in C/C++ and assembly – Mandatory.
• 5+ years of experience working with SoC Datasheets and Technical Reference Manuals – Mandatory.
