This role offers an exciting opportunity to design and build the backend systems that power modern payment infrastructure used by businesses worldwide. As part of a highly collaborative engineering team, you will develop scalable services that enable seamless integrations with third-party payment providers. Working in a fully remote and product-driven environment, you will contribute to building distributed systems that prioritize performance, reliability, and developer ownership. The team follows a “you build it, you own it” philosophy, encouraging engineers to take full responsibility for the services they design, test, and deploy. You will collaborate closely with product managers and engineers across the stack while shaping technical decisions that support platform scalability and long-term innovation. This is an ideal role for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges in fast-moving, high-impact environments.

Accountabilities

• Design and implement backend services that support complex, high-performance distributed systems used for payment infrastructure and partner integrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers and engineers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that enhance platform capabilities.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following modern development practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards, performance, and development workflows.
• Document technical solutions and internal systems clearly to support knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience developing backend systems using Python in modern, production-level environments.
• Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment of distributed systems.
• Experience writing testable, maintainable code using established testing frameworks and development best practices.
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure and development environments, ideally including technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment while maintaining strong collaboration across teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and explain technical concepts clearly.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments that require adaptability and problem-solving.
• Must be based in Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Romania, or South Africa.
