Senior Backend Developer

Accountabilities

• Lead the design and development of backend systems, APIs, and integrations that support critical product capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of frontend engineers, SREs, and QA specialists within dedicated product-focused development squads.
• Contribute to the full lifecycle of software development, from architecture discussions and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Build scalable and maintainable services using modern backend frameworks and database technologies.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality code standards and sharing constructive feedback with team members.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical and business-related issues to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Support platform improvements by researching, proposing, and implementing architectural enhancements.
• Contribute to engineering initiatives such as hiring processes, technical discussions, documentation, and internal knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior engineers and help foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and technical excellence.
  
  

Requirements

• Significant professional experience as a Senior Backend Engineer, including delivering and maintaining complex software systems in production environments.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or similar technologies.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or comparable solutions.
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, API design, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in distributed teams and contribute to asynchronous workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems.
• Nice to have: experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, or Haskell.
• Familiarity with modern cloud and container technologies such as AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to modern frontend technologies such as React, Next.js , Vue, or Angular is considered a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and support other engineers within the team.
