VLSI Design Team Leader

One of our clients, a well-funded and growing technology company developing advanced semiconductor-based systems, is looking to hire a VLSI Design Team Leader. The company operates in a highly specialized deep-tech domain and designs complex hardware platforms that combine high-performance digital processing with sophisticated system-level capabilities.

We are seeking a highly hands-on VLSI Design Team Leader to lead the development and integration of complex SoC blocks.

In the initial phase, the role will function primarily as an Individual Contributor, working closely with internal design and architecture teams as well as external technology partners. As development activities expand, the successful candidate will gradually build and lead a dedicated VLSI design team.

This role requires strong execution capabilities, deep synthesis experience, and the ability to coordinate technical work across internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Technical Ownership (Initial Phase)

• Work closely with internal design and architecture teams to understand, refine, and integrate internal IP blocks
• Define and implement scalable interfaces between internal IP and external systems
• Lead micro-architecture refinement and RTL implementation (Verilog/SystemVerilog)
• Own block-level development from specification through RTL delivery, including synthesis
• Support technical discussions with external partners, including integration reviews and issue resolution
• Ensure design robustness, quality, and readiness for system integration

Team Leadership (Growth Phase)

• Gradually build and lead a team of VLSI engineers
• Define work breakdown, priorities, and execution plans
• Conduct code reviews and enforce development methodologies
• Mentor engineers and maintain high technical standards
• Drive development milestones and ensure timely delivery

Job Requirements

Education

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on VLSI / ASIC design experience
• Experience leading a design team – advantage
• Experience owning design blocks from architecture through tape-out
• Strong experience integrating internal IP into complex systems
• Experience collaborating with external partners or third-party IP vendors
• Strong knowledge of STA methodologies and constraints development
• Experience integrating complex IP blocks into larger SoC environments
