Control and Integration Engineer

We are a fast-growing medical robotics startup developing robotic ultrasound systems for abdominal and pelvic imaging.

We are seeking an experienced Control & Integration Engineer to take a leading role as a focal point in system-level integration and control of force-sensitive robotic platforms that physically interact with patients.

This is a deeply hands-on role combining motion control, force control, hardware–software integration, and real-world medical robotics challenges such as soft-tissue interaction, safety, and robustness.

Experience in robotics is mandatory. Background in medical devices is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

·     Lead system integration of robotic ultrasound subsystems, including actuators, force/torque sensors, encoders, safety sensors, and controllers.

·     Design, implement, and tune control algorithms for position, velocity, and force control.

·     Develop and tune closed-loop control for compliant interaction with soft tissue.

·     Integrate real-time control software with higher-level applications and imaging workflows.

·     Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to translate physical system behavior into stable and safe control loops.

·     Support system bring-up, calibration, debugging, and performance optimization on physical robotic platforms.

·     Define and execute system-level tests for accuracy, repeatability, force limits, and safety.

·     Participate in risk analysis, failure investigation, and mitigation related to patient-contact robotics.

·     Contribute to technical documentation supporting development, verification, validation, and regulatory submissions.

Requirements:

Mandatory:

·     BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

·     5+ years of hands-on experience in control, integration, or robotics system engineering roles (PhD experience is equivalent)

·     Proven hands-on experience in robotic systems – mandatory.

·     Strong understanding of motion control (TwinCAT), drives, motors, encoders, and force/torque sensing.

·     Hands-on experience with force-controlled or compliant robotic systems.

·     Experience with real-time control architectures and Ethercat-based motion systems.F

·     Demonstrated ability to bring up, debug, and tune complex electromechanical systems.

·     Strong analytical thinking, documentation, and communication skills.

Advantage:

·              Experience with medical imaging systems and regulated environments.

·              Familiarity with IEC 60601, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and safety-related control architectures.

Experience working with multi-axis robotic arms or custom robotic mechanisms.
