Yonatan Tzur team

Our laboratory, located at the Safra campus of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, studies fertility using human samples donated from IVF patients and the nematode C. elegans. We are specifically interested in the factors that control oocyte development and aging. Our goal is to find why oogenesis is the first process that completely fails during aging, and how it can be slowed.

Open projects:

1. How long non-coding RNAs affect the development of germ cells?
2. Ways to predict the potential of IVF embryos before implantation.
3. How the phase-phase separation of key players in oogensis enable optimal fertility.
4. Identify the signal pathway that enables the germline to adapt to external cues.

Roles Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for candidates who will be based in Jerusalem, Israel. The accepted candidates will engage in independent research under the guidance of Professor Yonatan Tzur, contribute to academic publications, and may choose to participate in departmental teaching responsibilities. The role also involves attending academic seminars, workshops, and conferences related to the area of study, while collaborating with team members on research projects and related activities.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in relevant fields of life sciences and bioinformatics.
• Research skills, including molecular biology, genetics, data analysis, and transcriptomics.
• Teamwork capabilities, alongside the ability to work independently on assigned research tasks.
• Proficiency in academic tools and software commonly used in research.
• Proficiency in either Hebrew or English is essential.
• For PhD candidates master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline is required. Previous research experience is an advantage.
