AI Team Leader

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Team Leader to own the development of the Xeris Security AI Agent. You will work directly with the founders, lead a team of engineers, and be deeply involved in architecture, code, and sprint execution. This is not a pure management role, you will write code, review pull requests, and make critical technical decisions every day.

What You’ll Do

•      Lead the Security AI Agent engineering team end-to-end: planning, execution, delivery, and iteration.

•      Work directly with the founders to translate product vision into technical milestones and sprint plans.

•      Own sprint management: backlog grooming, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.

•      Write production-quality code in Java and/or Python alongside your team.

•      Design and build backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines that power the agent platform.

•      Drive architecture decisions with an AI-first mindset, leveraging LLMs, agent frameworks, and modern AI tooling.

•      Foster a culture of ownership, velocity, and technical excellence within the team.

•      Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive solutions.

What We’re Looking For

•      3+ years of experience leading engineering teams in a hands-on capacity.

•      Strong backend development skills in Java and/or Python.

•      Proven experience with sprint management and agile methodologies.

•      Deep familiarity with modern AI/ML stacks - LLMs, prompt engineering, vector databases, RAG architectures, agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or similar).

•      AI-first mentality - you naturally reach for AI-powered solutions and stay on top of the rapidly evolving landscape.

•      Strong system design skills - experience building scalable, production-grade backend services.

•      Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego working style.

•      Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with high autonomy and minimal bureaucracy.

Big Plus

•      Cybersecurity experience - background in cyber development and research and/or working with security-focused products.

•      Experience building or integrating AI agents in production environments.

•      Familiarity with cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

•      Open-source contributions or a strong technical community presence.
